林继凡(范),字纪帆,别署霜屋学人、雪斋主人、凡瓮,斋号雪斋。
著名表演艺术家、昆曲教育家、当代书画家。1946年生于苏州,自幼跟随吴门画派宗师张辛稼研习书画,13岁始学昆曲。1982年成为昆丑泰斗王传淞唯一的入室弟子。2002年应邀回苏任苏州市昆曲学校副校长。获得第八届『中国戏剧梅花奖』,享受国务院特殊津贴。2002年荣膺文化部和联合国教科文组织颁发的『促进昆曲艺术贡献奖』。现为国家级非物质文化遗产(昆曲)代表性传承人。林继凡画作入选『当代中国画高级人才成果展』、『中国当代书画名家精品系列』和『全国著名作家、诗人、书法家、画家书画作品集』。其作品多次发表和参展,并为祖国內地、港澳台地区、日本、欧美等地的专家学者和美术馆所收藏。

Lin Jifan is an acclaimed Kunqu artist and educator, as well as an accomplished calligrapher and painter. Born in Suzhou, China in 1946, he studied classical Chinese calligraphy and painting with the great Wu-School artist Zhang Xinjia since young. At the age of 13, he began to learn Kunqu; in 1982, he became the only direct disciple of Wang Chuansong, a Kunqu master performer of the Chou (clown) role type.
In 2002, Mr. Lin became Vice Principal of the Suzhou Kunqu Opera School. He was winner of the 8th Plum Blossom Award, one of the highest prizes for Chinese theatre, and the Contribution Award for the Promotion of Kunqu by China’s Ministry of Culture and UNESCO in 2002.
He is currently a National Representative Master Artist of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Kunqu.
Mr. Lin is equally accomplished in his other passion, Chinese calligraphy and paintings. His paintings have been included in various exhibitions such as: the Contemporary Chinese Painting Advanced Talents Exhibition; Chinese Contemporary Painting and Calligraphy Masterpieces; and National Famous Writers, Poets, Calligraphers, Painters Painting and Calligraphy Collection. His works have been published and exhibited many times, and have been sought after by collectors and scholars from all over the world.
The Kunqu plays he’s known for playing include: “Visiting the Temple”; “Fortune Telling”; “Asking for Tea”; “Taken Alive”; “Encounter in the Reeds”; “The Side Entrance”; “Fleeing Down the Mountain”; “About the Sword”; and “The Drunk Messenger.”
